Best Spots in New York if You are Searching for Calm and Quiet
New York is home to around 8.5 million people. It is also one of the most diverse places in the world. For a city that never sleeps, it is difficult to find some quiet time. Add to that the constant traffic, loud noise from various establishments and even just from your neighbors with colorful personalities. In just 5 years, the number of complaints regarding noise in the neighborhood rose to up to 400,000.
The good news is that there are hidden areas in the city where you can just be at peace with yourself and your surroundings. It is like finding an oasis in the middle of a desert. Here are some places to help you relax while you’re in New York.
Snug Harbor Cultural Center
Go to Staten Island in order to find one of the calmest places in New York. This center is placed along a waterfront and is filled with pagodas. There are pools and bamboo paths along the way. You might have to travel to the island, but if this is the kind of relaxation you are getting, it would be worth it.
MNDFL Meditation
Yes, there is a place for meditation in New York. If you prefer a guided meditation class, this is the perfect place for you. There are also rooms available for private practice. You might even want to nap while you are there. It is your chance to do so.
Inwood Hill Park
This park is located north of Manhattan, but it features prehistoric caves, forts and lovely forests. It seems like you can’t find anything of this sort in New York, but it actually exists.
The Frick Collection
This features early 20th century mansion and is located on 5th Avenue. It is not really that far so it is perfect place if you want a quick escape from the loud noise of the city. The halls are just stunningly amazing. There are even art collections dating back to the 1400s. Considering how quiet it is there, you might not want to go elsewhere.
Ichiran Ramen
If you are aspiring to eat in a place where you can just sit and be quiet, this is the best place for you. It is not like any other restaurant where people are really loud. In this restaurant, people are requested to put their phones on a silent mode. You also don’t have to speak with anyone while you are there, not even the waiter. There is a small window where you can place and receive your order.
Most people in New York would pay a price just to have peace and quiet. If you are one of them, you really have to consider looking for these spots. Given how stressful everyday life is in the city, it would be nice to be in quiet places for a change.
