Don’t Let Your Next Trip be a Reason for Putting on a Lot of Weight
Traveling is fun. The only down side is that once it is over, you realize that you have put on a lot of weight. With all the new foods that are available and the flexibility of the schedule, it is inevitable for you to eat more than what you normally do. This does not have to happen though. You can go ahead and enjoy traveling but still maintain your weight. Here are some tips that you can follow.
Eat on time
Just because your schedule is flexible does not mean you can eat any time you want. You still have to follow the right time for eating. Otherwise, you will tend to eat less in the morning and make it up at night. This can be a reason for putting on weight. Once the trip is over, you will have a hard time going back to your normal eating schedule.
Try outdoor activities as well
There is nothing wrong in doing food trip especially if it is your first time to go to that country and you have not tried their dishes before. To make it up, you also need to do outdoor activities. Before you even start going to places, you can go for a walk within the area where you are staying. You may also walk around the mall instead of just sitting around and finding places to eat.
Learn how to say no
This is a big problem especially if you are immersing in a local community. You have to eat whatever it is that they feed you. In some cultures, saying no to an offer for something to eat is rude. However, there are times when you have to stand your ground. If you know that the food will cause weight gain, learn to say no. You can make up excuses so you won’t be forced to eat. If not, you can taste a tiny bit and then say thank you.
Drink plenty of water
Whether you are going out for hiking or just a walk around the park, it helps if you have a bottle of water with you. It hydrates your body and prevents you from feeling hungry all the time. You will stop craving for sweets and will also give you the energy you need to push through with your travel plans.
Sleep!
You might get too excited when traveling and you wish to make the most out of your trip. This is why even at night, you have lots of plans. As a result, you end up sleeping later or not even having enough time to sleep at all. It is extremely important that you stick to your usual routine when it comes to sleep. Otherwise, adjusting after the trip would be such a huge challenge. This is one of the reasons for you to gain a lot of weight.
There is nothing wrong in enjoying every part of the trip. However, you need to make sure that it won’t affect your effort to lose or maintain your weight.
