Tips on Choosing A Venue for your Destination Wedding

set aside a budget

As every blushing bride would know, one of the biggest factors for a beautiful wedding would be the venue. This is why many engaged couples choose to celebrate the consummation of their married life with a destination wedding. So if you both are a bit adventurous, here are ways on how you can pick a venue for your destination wedding:

Set Aside a Budget

Budget will always be the biggest factor when planning a wedding. The magnitude of your wedding preparations will depend on the budget you will be able to put aside for your wedding. The bigger the budget, the bigger the wedding plans. Get estimates for suppliers, but most importantly the venues you have in mind. From there, you will be able to come out with a budget for your destination wedding.

Pick the Location Well

pick a location

For your destination wedding, it is important to choose the location carefully. Some locations can be quite inexpensive, while others can be quite costly. So choose one that will fit your budget. The location should be a reflection of you and your spouse-to-be’s personality. If you are both beach bums, a beach wedding is a given. Make sure to also take in account the amount of travel you and your guests would have to do. If the venue is too far away, then your guests might not want to even go there. However the most important factor would definitely be the budget. So take your time to sort out among your many choices to pick out the best one.

Timing is Always Important

If you want a peaceful wedding, then it might be best to time it during a lean season. The last thing you want to do is random tourists entering your reception. Moreover during peak seasons, the rates would be much higher and lesser venue and room availabilities. So there is a chance that all your guests might not be able to get a room at the resort or hotel where the wedding will be held. It will be advisable to place your booking and reservation for the venue at least 10 months in advance. Also take into consideration the weather in the place you will be going. Some countries are subjected to typhoon or hurricane seasons, which will put a damper on your wedding plans. Some areas can get quite hot which will be too uncomfortable for you and your guests. So make sure to check out the weather of the venue as well.

Be Hands On

As many brides would have wedding planners, it is quite easy to just leave all the details to the planner. However you might not get the wedding you want. So it is always best to know everything that is happening to your wedding, especially with a destination wedding that would have many more details as compared to a regular wedding.

Visit the Venue Prior to the Wedding

Make sure to take the time off to visit the venue. Visiting the venue could be the factor that will help make or break your wedding. Take a trip to secure all the necessary venues in the area. A trip will not suffice. But two to three will be ideal. Instead of bringing your own suppliers, contribute to the local tourism by sourcing local suppliers. Make sure to check your suppliers’ portfolios very well. Get actual samples of their work. But make sure to get professionals to handle your photography, hair and makeup, flowers and lighting to ensure that everything will go off without a hitch. If you want to bring your own suppliers, remember that you have to factor in extra costs as you will need to pay for their travel and lodging expenses, on top of their professional fee.

Plan in Advance

plan in advance

One of the first things you need to do when you decide on having a destination wedding is start booking your venue. This is why you should give yourself a lead time of about a year to a year and a half to plan your wedding as you will need to coordinate a lot of things.

Once you are done with all these things, then you will be able to concentrate on the plans for your honeymoon.
