What It’s Like to Quarantine Upon Arrival at Your Travel Destination

Quarantine Upon Arrival

Given the current pandemic, several countries still have a mandatory quarantine in place for international arrivals. Others even have quarantine requirements for trips between cities or states. If you have enough time to spare, you might want to pursue your travel plans. Besides, you also stayed at home for a long time to avoid potential infections. The problem is that despite being fully vaccinated, quarantines are still mandatory. If you are hesitant due to these requirements, you might want to know how it feels like to be in that setup.

You can’t have physical contact with anyone

You can’t have physical contact with anyone

The moment you get inside your chosen quarantine facility, you will stay there until it’s over. You will receive food and other necessary services. You don’t have to leave the room. Some places will allow you to order food for delivery, but you can’t pick it up outside. Someone will take your order and bring it to your room. Your trash will also be collected the same way. Place it outside the room instead of bringing it outside yourself.

You need to provide health updates

You have to check in with a government-approved app to inform about your health condition. If you need medical attention, there’s a hotline to call. If these are severe symptoms related to Covid, you might be brought to the hospital.

There will be another test before you leave

The rules might be different, but you will be required to get another Covid test before you leave the facility. The results must be negative to approve your release. If it’s positive, you have to stay longer. Even if you already presented negative test results prior to your tests, you might still get another one.

Find a way to stay sane

Being alone in a small room for several days isn’t the best experience. It doesn’t matter even if you’re in a 5-star hotel with the best amenities. It might make you insane to be in the same place, and without human contact. Therefore, it helps if you regularly talk to your loved ones who can’t be with you. Bring a book to read or other things that will entertain you. Plan what you will do throughout your stay. Try to be as productive as possible.

Remain optimistic

There are times when you want to scream because you can no longer bear being alone. You will also have negative thoughts because you only have yourself to talk to. Despite the situation, you must try to be optimistic. You can’t let the situation break you. If you’re going on a holiday, realize that it would be worth it. Once your quarantine is over, you will enjoy a much-awaited vacation.

Hopefully, there will be no more quarantine restrictions in the future. Until then, you have no choice but to take it. If you don’t want to, you should postpone your trip and find another date. You may also look for a country where there are no quarantine rules.
