costa rica

Costa Rica is a dream destination. It’s the best place to visit if you’re into natural wonders. It’s like a slice of heaven on Earth. It’s what a country would look like when everyone is concerned about global warming and does the right thing. Before you book your trip, here are a few things you must know about the country.

It’s more expensive than its neighbors

more expensive than its neighbors

If there’s one thing you need to know about Costa Rica, it’s quite pricey. When compared to other central American countries, you might have to spend a bit more. Almost everything costs beyond what you expect, and you must be wise in how you spend your money. Of course, you won’t mind the cost if you wish to see what wonders it has to offer.

Pay in cash

If you want to avoid inconveniences, make sure you pay in cash. You will spend less than the amount required when paying using cards. You also have to bring enough cash since it might be challenging to find an ATM. You also won’t find several establishments accepting card payments.

Watch out for extra charges

You might have to be careful when looking at the prices, especially when dining in restaurants. The amount might seem reasonable at first, but you will be surprised when the bill arrives. You have to pay 10% service charge and 13% tax. It could easily blow up what you’re going to pay. It helps if you ask first before buying anything.

Rent a car

You should also consider renting a car to make the most of your trip. You can go wherever you want and explore various destinations. You can also have a flexible schedule. Since Costa Rica is a small country, local transportation can be challenging. It’s also expensive. You would rather rent a car and see as many places as possible. You won’t have to worry about your family’s safety, either.

Always check the weather

When thinking about Costa Rica, you always envision a sunny day where you can spend a wonderful day at the beach. Of course, it’s one of the reasons why people decide to visit the country. However, you must realize that it’s not always that way. There are several rainy days in the country. It also has cold months. Therefore, you must plan your trip accordingly. You should also check the weather forecast to avoid getting disappointed. It helps if you visit from November to April since these are the dry months. The only problem is it’s also the time when most people decide to go there. Avoid September and October since these are the rainy months. Several establishments might not even operate during that time of the year.

Hopefully, you can pursue your trip and enjoy it. Costa Rica might be pricey and planning the trip won’t be easy. However, it will be worth doing. You should save up if you want this adventure to be a reality.
